Why The Elder Scrolls Isn't Dumbing Down

I debated for quite some time over putting this video up in spite of a lot of people urging me to do so, but I've finally decided to bite the bullet and here...

My biggest gripe about oblivion... besides the ugly character models and boring story... is that combat never felt effective... unless I used god tier items I never felt that my action had an impact.... I either had to swing for minutes at a time and waste money repairing things or making an op spell so I don't have to waste time... which one are you gonna pick? Obviously the second one...

I didn't actually know the spell would be that powerful. I just got bored, made it for 1000 gold, and cast it on a random guy.

What's fun is, hiding on a rooftop, and casting a combined Frenzy and Rally Spell on a large group, and watching them duke it out in the Market District

Where is the fun when you kill everything in one shot, or will never have to worry about being caught... it is why I never use invisibility... OP equals = https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vU0fYzuypXg

Maybe it's just me but I never made an extremely overpowered spell. I always went for castin efficiency so I could stay fluid throughout battle, keeping my reserves high and options open.

Morrowind had that. You could make ANY NPC follow you, with a soul trap, spell, and a command spell combined.

Wasn't that unique to Oblivion, though?

I once made a Lightning Spell that was able to send a guy OUT OF THE IMPERIAL CITY! Screw Unrelenting Force, I want that spell again. Yeah, you could do neat tricks with custom spells, but still. Or you could make a drain Stamina enchantment/spell, that would pretty much knock out any NPXu, and you could steal anything without impunity

Making spells was terrible! It was essentially make your own instant win button...

I don't know what the hell you're trying to say... Just giving people the freedom to create any spell they wanted and give it an original name was something so unique to the series. I can't believe they would throw that out.

You had to pay for someone to make spells Alastor, that's what the gold was for. And On. Self was rarely useful, except for fun
