And I started it!

After a long discussion on the ask a question lore section, I believe we need an article on the GodHead, because it is such a important subject to TES.

Okine, perhaps the banner of Winterhold was based on the helm of Winterhold, that's legend got twisted over the years, turning from a horned helmet to a crown?

That is on the UESP already.

A calendar, lined up with the Gregorian one? Would help our friends in the Story Corner. Add important events, Holidays...

Hmm. I think so, was in my thought cage. I want to make it more a Roleplay/Lore thing, covering both the setting information and how it can be interpreted and used for characters.

Good suggestion, will work on a Foresters Guild something.

Could you guys get your scribes to write some stuff on the morag tong (I think thats what there called). They are a very important piece of Dunmer history.

Great! I'm about to gather all this information and save it for later.

Feel free to start a discussion on this, David

Solitudes wolf is inspired by Potema.

Well, Riften's is based on the book Of Crossed Daggers.

Of Crossed Daggers

Others, I'm sure have connections too. The symbol for Morthal is connected to Morihaus, Alessia, and Pelinal. I'll think of more later, but yes would be a cool if it hasn't already been done.

Hey everyone , I had an idea but I need the help of all the wise Loremeister here from the Blog So I was thinking about the origins of the hold banners in Skyrim. Every hold has a logo, may it be an animal or a symbol and maybe we could figure out the origins in a group effort similar to the Lore article about the Ancient Nordic Pantheon where group members researched which animals stood for what god. What do you guys think? I'm not (yet) that deep into lore of ES but I'm starting to read more and more articles.

No need to apologise, I started it

Good idea Phil. Sorry if I hijacked your discussion!

Comment by Phil on August 9, 2015 at 8:15pm

Ok fellas, might be a good idea to take this discussion to What is lore to you? I'm very keen on seeing these differing opinions hashed out as it will help me understand the lore demographic here but this isn't the place for it. I know I started it, but that is only in relation to Idesto's suggestion, not discussion as to the validity of lore itself.

I cant accept total relativism or take anything on just blind faith. I love  roleplay but I don't pretend it's game lore, its personal to me  Some lore is clear, some has to be guessed, some is in between. I just want to he able to make up my own mind. OK?

Every person who has ever played an Elder Scrolls game has made up rubbish, it's called roleplay, you create the universe by witnessing it. Also every race has their own answers to the questions that people ask and they will all be different, the Ayleid creation myth is different to the Nords, is different to the Khajiits, is different to the  Altmers. And who says any of them are right?

Comment by Idesto a'Shinbira on August 9, 2015 at 6:31pm

That's just an excuse to make up any old rubbish and claim it applies to Skyrim, sorry. Also I think a circular argument. And I am like the Dwemer! And I don't believe they're gone

Thanks though

The Elder Scrolls universe can be altered with CHIM, but only with Love; only by saying "yes, and...". If you start yelling "no!", if you try to deny something created with Love, if you try to turn the Elder Scrolls into Middle Earth, if you become obsessed with what is True or False, Canon or Not, you end up like the Dwemer.

I just found this comment over at The extent of C0DA? : teslore and I like to think it's pertinent

Comment by Idesto a'Shinbira on August 9, 2015 at 4:00pm

None of those comments were directed at you personally. I'm having to be careful here  You seem like good guy.

I don't use either of those sites much so I can't comment. My main resource, and I seem to be unique in this, is an ES Wikia app, and that's just to help in gameplay.

Maybe only when questioned or if things get heated you could start IDing specific sources? I dunno now. When sources themselves are in dispute as to their veracity it gets murky I guess. Is that what life down the rabbit hole is like?
