So, I know we have a few shameless Alchemy lovers on the blog (myself among them), and this group has seen several fantastic Alchemy discussions. But I don't believe we've had one that hinges on potions that can be brewed exclusively from ingredients that can be cultivated in your Hearthfire house. Not until now, at any rate.
If you like Alchemy, you need to pick up Hearthfire. The ability to grow your own ingredients in bulk allows for an endless stock of potions with no maintenance. I personally use a Hearthfire home on all of my alchemist characters (which is at least half, since Alchemy is far and away my favorite crafting skill).
So, let's make an index of useful potions that can be made with plantable ingredients!
What You Can Do » Suggest your favorite potions and poisons (I'll give you credit of course). Please limit it to potions whose ingredients can ALL be grown in a Hearthfire garden or greenhouse. Please suggest a name for your creation as well! If the potion requires the Purity perk, please indicate that. Please only suggest potions with at least two effects.
Note #1 » I'm on the fence about whether the fish hatchery should be included. It opens up several more effects that would otherwise not be obtainable, but fish only spawn in batches of 3 or 6, which is only enough to keep up with one or two plants. Does anyone have thoughts on that front?
Note #2 » All listed magnitudes and/or durations assume level 100 Alchemy skill, with 5/5 Alchemist, Physician, Benefactor, Poisoner, and +66% Fortify Alchemy equipment.
Note #3 » Hearthfire is also very useful for quickly leveling the Alchemy skill. The best potion for this purpose is a combination of Creep Cluster, Mora Tapinella, and Scaly Pholiota. This is also a good potion to craft if you need to make some quick money.

Defensive Archery and Escape of Recuperation are already on the list, as Hist Reserve and Mummer's Farce respectively. Also, I'm not counting Hanging Moss since the sample that grows in the greenhouse seems to take 30 days to respawn, and you can't plant additional samples.

That Hist Reserve / Defensive Archery potion is absolutely killer. I've been thinking about adapting the Regulator to be a 0 AR build, and picking up Enchanting to make up for the loss of AR and lower unarmed damage (no Fists of Steel). Just using that potion, the Lady stone, and some Fortify Health / Health Regen enchants, I think it could be just as viable.
Hmmm...Where can I plant glowing mushroom? I tried it and it cannot be planted :( Or maybe I missed some parts of the "house creation" of hearthfire?
Hm, I've never tried growing it myself, but UESP lists it as an ingredient that can be grown, claiming it yields 5 samples per harvest. I'll have to look into it.
It's not in the garden, I think. Try the planters in the Greenhouse. Been a long time since I used a Hearthfire house...
It doesn't take too much to get it, 5000 gold coins only. Furthermore, you will get some starting material to start build the house, and it is enough to get the garden.
A userful poison to level up the skill: Glowing mushroom+Nightshade+Blue mountain flower. It is a real crap (fortify destruction, Increase health, and damage mana regen. Cannot be drunk as it is a poison), but it's woth a lot and all the ingredients can be planted in the garden.
The most valuable potion you can craft with plantable ingredients is a combination of Creep Cluster, Mora Tapinella, and Scaly Pholiota. If you're using the garden and the greenhouse, you can plant six each of Creep Cluster and Scaly Pholiota, and ten Mora Tapinella, and still have a few plots left over. This will yield 30 of each ingredient every reset (2-3 days). If you have around 180-210, the Thief Stone, and Well Rested, and if you make your potions at Arcadia's in Whiterun, you can sell your potions to her to pay for five levels of training every level-up (until level 70). From there, you should have more than enough left over to get to at least level 95+. At this point, skill books can take you up to 100.

I see no reason why we couldn't include the fish hatchery in this discussion since it is a renewable source of alchemy ingredients. In fact the most valuable potion and thus perfect for leveling Alchemy that I've ever created requires the hatchery.
Ingredients: Salmon Roe + Histcarp
With no perks and a skill of only 15 this potion will still be worth over 1000 septims.
Effects: Breath underwater for 258 seconds. Restore 9 Stamina. Magicka is increased 215 points for 5 seconds.
Thanks for the suggestions, Balazs. I asked previously in the thread if people wanted to expand to include the hatchery and didn't get a definitive response. I will consider that, and in the meantime I'll go ahead and add the first one you suggested.
